Meet on Indiana Avenue at the Carnegie Historic Marker for a tour of historic homes on Michigan and Indiana Avenues in La Porte.

To join this walk, register and then meet on Indiana Ave. at the Carnegie Library Historic Marker to depart. The walk to historic homes on Indiana and Michigan Avenues will include short descriptions about the homes and last approximately one hour.

Registration will be required for each session to enable social distancing while on the tour. Each group will include a maximum of ten. Wear comfortable shoes and consider bringing a water. Although the tour won't be fast paced, it does cover several blocks.

The La Porte County Public Library has renovated and improved the Main Library building located at 904 Indiana Ave.

Library staff are happy to help you navigate the online catalog and will also show you how to access the library’s eResources, including eBooks, eMagazines, TumbleBooks, and databases. The Indiana Room provides a wealth of history covering La Porte and Indiana.

Children will be delighted with the iPad mounted in the Play, Grow, Read! area where they can practice the early literacy skills of reading, writing, singing, talking and playing. The knowledgeable staff can help you find the items you want. Whether you’re looking for information or entertainment, there’s something here for you.

Other services at this location include free notary public service, copier, faxing, and scanning. Outdoor book drops are available for after hours returns.
