Learn how to maintain brain health which is a vital part of healthy aging and recall strategies with a Brain Health Treat bag.

Presented by Allison Goshorn, Purdue Extension Educator in Health and Human Sciences.

We take care of our homes, our cars and our families but how do we take care of our brain? According to the American Heart Association “When your brain is healthy, it has the blood flow required for peak performance. A healthy brain is essential for living a long and full life. When your brain is healthy, you're better able to pay attention, solve problems, communicate, and much more.”

How is your brain health? Want to learn more about better brain care? From dark chocolate to social connections and museums to music – we will talk about how it all helps us better care for our brain health!

This program offers fun and engaging research-based tips as well as a brain health treat bag full of reminders so that we can use and share the information with others! If you plan to participate from an off-site location by Zoom, Brain Health Treat bags will be available at the library for pick up prior to the class, or we have a list of items you can gather from your home or office to make your own Brain Health Treat Bag.

Participants and instructors will follow CDC guidelines for social distancing. Face masks are required by state and local ordinance. Surfaces and equipment will be cleaned and disinfected between sessions.

For current safety guidelines, check this link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html

NOTES:
When a staff presenter can be distant (2 arms length distance/6ft or more) from the audience, then you can remove your mask. Otherwise, you need to wear your mask.

About the branch

This branch is conveniently located in downtown Rolling Prairie within walking distance of Rolling Prairie Elementary School. Completed in 2017, this beautiful library features a fireplace and cozy reading area. Read a newspaper or a magazine and enjoy the comfortable seating areas well lit by the many windows and skylights.

Children will be delighted with the activities, iPad, and two early literacy computers in the Play, Grow, Read! area where they can practice the early literacy skills of reading, writing, singing, talking and playing.

Two study rooms and a meeting room are available for public use. The study and meeting rooms contain tables, chairs and flat screens for connecting laptops and Apple devices. During the warmer months, you’ll enjoy the outdoor umbrella tables and benches. Bike racks and ample parking make it easy to park your vehicle.

Library staff will gladly help you discover the branch’s collections, which include books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs and magazines for all ages. Staff can also help you navigate the online catalog and show you how to use the library’s eResources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, TumbleBooks, and databases.

Services at this branch include no charge notary public service, public photocopier, fax service, and scanning. An outdoor book drop is available for convenient after hours returns.
