Einav Rabinovitch-Fox, a Visiting Assistant Professor in History at Case Western Reserve University, will examine the connections between fashion, politics, and modernity.

How did suffragists shape political style, and how did their political legacy inspire and affect more recent struggles for gender equality?

Clothing and appearance became much more than a mere fashion statement during the suffrage movement. Einav’s talk presents fashion as a useful tool in political campaigns and our current political culture by examining the visual and spectacular means through which suffragists brought the issue of women’s rights to the forefront.

This program is presented in partnership with the Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial with support from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and Hillenbrand Industries. This presentation will take place over Zoom and be streamed to Facebook Live and YouTube.
