The Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity describes dyslexia "as an unexpected difficulty in learning to read" that impacts an individual's ability "to read quickly and automatically, and to retrieve spoken words easily."
Dyslexia affects 20 percent of the population and can be diagnosed with screening. While dyslexia can't be "cured" (it is lifelong), with the right supports, individuals with dyslexia can become highly successful students and adults.
In this 6 Tips episode gain a better understanding of dyslexia and options for screening, and learn about tools available through the library that support reading.
